At DATS HQ Ikuto and Masaru are fighting off the doctors so they can go back to the digital world. Satsuma appears and says there is nothing they can do. Masaru notices Satsuma refers to the old man as Commander and Satsuma explains he is Commander Yushima, the highest ranking member of DATS and former leader of the expedition. Masaru says definitely must go back now but Satsuma says the gate will be closed. Touma and Yoshino appear and Falcomon learns that Digimon are kept secret in the human world to avoid chaos.

Inside the gate room, Ikuto and Masaru smash the gate to get it working but end up breaking it instead. Touma pushes Masaru out of the way and discovers it will take two weeks to fix the digital dive. Satsuma appears and tells the group that he wants to tell them about Ikuto and the expedition.

 Ten years ago people began disappearing and no one knew what was going on. Satsuma and Yushima use to be detectives and were accompanied by Masaru’s father, a man named Kurata, and the Noguchi’s to investigate the disappearances. They discovered the digital world and built a gate to go there. While there they had to battle the Digimon and faced supply shortages. Masaru’s father whereabouts became unknown. Satsuma also reveals Ikuto is the son of the Noguchi couple. Satsuma explains that the Noguchi couple were experts in superspace research and became involved in the expedition because Ikuto disappeared to the digital world when he was a baby. Satsuma tells them to go see the couple in the Japanese Alps. Masaru forces Ikuto into a car to see his parents.

In his lair, Mercurimon worries about Ikuto and Falcomon and Gotsumon volunteers to rescue them (haha).

Ikuto is amazed by the human world and argues with Masaru about what each world has over the other. Yoshino is forced to pull over because Ikuto gets sick. At a rest stop, Masaru brings the group some hot dogs. Ikuto is reluctant to eat them at first but once he sees everyone else enjoying them he dives in. Everyone but Yoshino and Masaru fall asleep on the car ride to Ikuto’s parents.

In the digital world, Gotsumon searches for a digital gate since Mercurimon’s was destroyed. He comes upon something that makes him happy (probably a gate)
