Ikuto is watching it rain and reminisces about what SaberLeomon said to him about being human and not understanding how Digimon feel. At HQ, the group ponders why SaberLeomon’s digitama vaporized and just who the mysterious Digimon was that appeared. Satsuma, Kurata, and some soldiers appear and tell the group they’ve been ordered to go back to the digital world with Kurata. A flashback is shown of Satsuma trying to reason with Hashiba about fighting Mercurimon because they’re not strong enough. Kurata enters and says they can settle the matter peacefully. Hashiba is convinced by Kurata and tells Kurata to handle it. Now in the present again, Kurata claims he didn’t think he would be involved and says he has been made commander of the group. Masaru is surprised that the digital dive is fixed and is eager to leave at once. Kurata gets briefly angry when Touma says they can’t leave until the digital dive is readjusted for the large group.

At his house, Masaru informs Ikuto that they’re going back to the digital world. Ikuto tells him he can’t go back because it’ll just cause more war. Ikuto then says he wants to go but when Agumon questions which side he’ll fight with Masaru tells him to stay behind until he knows.

In his lair, Mercurimon thinks about Professor Daimon briefly. Gotsumon interrupts and the two have a conversation about how strong Masaru was. Mercurimon suggests the idea that perhaps not all humans are evil because of his battle with Masaru. Their conversation is interrupted when Mercurimon senses the humans are coming, with an evil. Gotsumon says he will handle it because Mercurimon is the only hope for the digital world.

DATS and Kurata arrive in the digital world.

Back at Masaru’s house, Ikuto is depressed because he doesn’t believe Mercurimon will forgive him for being with the humans. He realizes his body is human and his heart is Digimon. He then asks Falcomon what he should do.

Gotsumon appears before the group and Kurata requests an audience with Mercurimon. Gotsumon tells them no and brings out Zudomon. Kurata and his troops hide behind some rocks while Masaru and Agumon rush head on into battle. Gaomon and Raramon join the fray as their ultimate levels. Kurata yells at them over his speakerphone because they’re losing. MachGaogamon manages to finish off Zudomon. Gotsumon says he won’t let them pass and says it is time to show them his true form and begins evolving…

Back in the real world, Sayuri has a talk with Ikuto and Falcomon on the roof about his identity crisis. Sayuri tells him he is the only one who understands the feelings of humans and Digimon. She then asks him what is it he wants to do.

Gotsumon evolves into Meteormon. Meteormon attacks and surprises the group with his massive amount of power. Masaru punches him for his digisoul and Agumon evolves into RiseGreymon. Meteormon evades all three of the digimon’s attacks because of his high speed. The group comes up with a plan to slow Meteormon down. When he punches RiseGreymon, RiseGreymon grabs hold of him. Lilamon then paralyzes him and MachGaogamon punches him. Meteormon picks himself back up and attacks once more. However, RiseGreymon attacks him while he is powering up and Meteormon is no more.

At DATS HQ, Ikuto and Falcomon tell Satsuma that they would like to go to the digital world.
