We see a flashback of the day Frigimon discovers Ikuto. She hears a baby crying and finds Ikuto in his cradle. She calms him down but hears his mother screaming from the other side of the digital gate. We return to the present and Ikuto is trying to stop the fighting. He confronts Mercurimon about really being human. Mercurimon confirms to Ikuto that he is human and Masaru asks him why he tried to have Ikuto killed. Mercurimon tells the group he never gave that order and that Gotsumon acted of his own free will. Ikuto tells Mercurimon that he no longer hates all humans because of Masaru and co. Kurata interrupts and says all Digimon are evil beasts. Mercurimon asks what he is doing there. Mercurimon tells Masaru he is not the man he thought he was because Kurata is with him. Masaru doesn’t understand at first but Mercurimon reveals Kurata led the human attack on the digital world.

Another flashback is seen of Frigimon playing with Ikuto and then being visited by Mercurimon and Gotsumon. He has come to take Ikuto from Frigimon but she won’t allow it. Frigimon says she will raise Ikuto and become his mother which convinces Mercurimon to leave him alone. We return to the present and Mercurimon tells Masaru and co. that Kurata was responsible for Frigimon’s death. Kurata voices in saying he is really a victim. We see another flashback of Professor Daimon taking pictures of Digimon and Yushima examining the landscape. Everything is interrupted by Kurata shooting at a Digimon. The Professor scolds Kurata for attacking but is interrupted by more Digimon attacking them for Kurata’s actions. Kurata tells of how they entered Infinite Ice Ridge for refuge but came under attack by SaberLeomon. In the flashback, Kurata uses a space oscillation bomb which opens up a digital gate so he and his friends can escape.

Mercurimon tells Kurata he was a coward for running but that Professor Daimon stayed and fought until the very end. We see Professor Daimon fighting SaberLeomon (and winning!). He tells Satsuma and Yushima to escape through the gate while he holds the Digimon off. Mercurimon appears after witnessing him pound on SaberLeomon and says he wishes to fight him. In the present once more, Mercurimon explains how the Professor told him about the situation in the human world and that they came to the digital world to find Ikuto. Mercurimon tells the professor he knows of Ikuto which pleases Professor Daimon. The Professor tells Mercurimon about his own son, Masaru and how great having kids is. Professor Daimon tells Mercurimon that he wants peace in both worlds and Mercurimon tells him he needs to seek out the god of the digital world, Yggdrasil. Lastly, Mercurimon says he must stay at the digital gate (which isn’t closing) to prevent his comrades from foolishly entering the human world.

Masaru realizes his dad is still alive but Kurata tries to say there is no proof of that. Satsuma tells Masaru over comlink that his dad is alive because they received a blue print for the digivices from him. Kudamon reveals to him that he and Kamemon were sent by the professor to help create DATS and preserve peace between both worlds. Mercurimon continues the story by saying the peace they created was ruined when Kurata attacked the digital world. We see him and his men entering the digital world and killing the Digimon with their flamethrowers and Gizmon. The Digimon fight back but are unable to overcome Kurata’s forces. Mercurimon is informed of the attack by Gotsumon and believes Suguru Daimon has betrayed him. We see a young Ikuto watching the battle from a distance and worrying about Frigimon.  We see Frigimon die protecting Ikuto from the Gizmon. In the end, Mercurimon appears and destroys the Gizmon but Kurata escapes. Gotsumon blames Ikuto for the events that unfolded and wants Ikuto to leave. Mercurimon appears and says it was Frigimon’s dying wish for Ikuto to live with them and that he will not leave. The flashback ends with Ikuto putting his marks on his face and calling himself a Digimon and the digital world’s warrior.
