Mercurimon has just been shot by a Gizmon AT and is slowly fading away. Kurata tells the kids he plans on having a Digimon genocide because of his “experiences” with Digimon ten years ago. He says now that Mercurimon will be out of the way he can proceed with his plans. Masaru tries to attack Kurata, but he retreats with his men behind Gizmon AT. Masaru punches Gizmon AT for his digisoul and evolves Agumon into RiseGreymon. RiseGreymon attacks Gizmon AT with trident revolver but it is not effective. RiseGreymon gets knocked into a wall and Touma/Yoshino evolve their Digimon to their ultimate levels. MachGaogamon and Lilamon join the fray but once again their attacks don’t faze Gizmon AT. Kurata tells the kids his Gizmon AT was created by him from Digimon he has captured, is only at champion level, and that Digimon can only be used as tools. This angers the kids who defend the Digimon and the two sides continue fighting.

On the sidelines, Mercurimon tells Ikuto that it is useless trying to save him because Gizmon AT’s attack is eating away at him. He also tells Ikuto he has always wondered which of the two worlds would bring Ikuto happiness but that he now realizes that neither world will bring happiness but only a world with both Digimon and humans living together. We see a flashback of Suguru giving Mercurimon Ikuto’s future digivice and promising to create a world for both humans and Digimon. Falcomon brings up Frigimon’s last words which were to not hate humans.

The battle between DATS and Gizmon AT continues with DATS losing. Kurata continues to tell of the past. He says he advised Suguru ten years ago to get rid of the Digimon but Suguru told him no and called him a coward. Masaru tells him off with being a man speech which angers Kurata. Kurata evolves Gizmon AT into Gizmon XT through pseudo-evolution. Gizmon XT attacks and the kids are shocked at its power. They decide to combine their attacks but Gizmon XT isn’t hurt one bit.

From the sidelines, Mercurimon tells Ikuto the kids can’t win at their levels. He picks himself up and tells Ikuto goodbye. Ikuto tells Mercurimon he really does hate humans because of what they did to Mercurimon. Mercurimon points out Masaru and tells Ikuto that not all humans are bad. Ikuto thinks about everyone he has met, Yoshino, Touma, Sayuri, Chika, and realizes he doesn’t hate them. Mercurimon tells him by now he should know what to really hate. Mercurimon leaves Ikuto with a few last words, live on with the heart of a Digimon and attacks Gizmon XT. Masaru asks Mercurimon why he helped them and Mercurimon says he wanted to try believing in Suguru’s words one more time. Gizmon XT picks himself up and finishes off Mercurimon with his death ray. Mercurimon’s digitama evaporates.

Kurata is pissed now because Mercurimon damaged his Gizmon XT. He also mocks the idea of harmony between Digimon and humans. This angers Ikuto who rushes forward with Falcomon and evolves Falcomon into his ultimate level-Yatagaramon. Ikuto says he now understands he mustn’t hate all humans but only those with evil hearts. Yatagaramon attacks and finishes off Gizmon XT (who actually turns into a digitama) Kurata orders his men to open a digital gate and he escapes.

Masaru and co. vow to go after Kurata now that Ikuto is solidly with them.

In his lab, Kurata watches one of his creations and says he isn’t worried by the loss of Gizmon because he has more.
