We see Dynasmon and UlforceVeedramon leading an invasion army of Knightmon against earth. MirageGaogamon, Ravemon, and Rosemon are fighting Knightmon when Touma is contacted by Yushima.

An airplane is trying to take off in the midst of the Knightmon assault. The airplane has Touma’s father and sister on board and Yushima watches on. He is surprised at their actions and sends Gawappamon to defend the airplane from the Knightmon. Gawappamon saves it from being destroyed but, it is damaged and unable to take off. MirageGaogamon shows up with Touma and destroys the rest of the Knightmon. Touma criticizes his father for exposing Relena to unnecessary danger and his father tells him he must return to Austria to defend the family manor. Touma tells him flying is prohibited and his father says dropping the family name fixes that. Touma gets angry at what his father is saying but holds himself back when his father says he shouldn’t be challenging him. Touma tells them to get to safety because more Knightmon will likely show up but his father says he is going to have another jet prepared and that Touma will act as escort. Touma’s father asks him if he wants to protect Relena and Touma asks him what he has protected. Touma has a flashback of when he was younger. He is holding his mothers picture and is told to come along by his father. We then see Touma waiting in a room and hear his father arguing with his grandmother. His father is trying to get his grandmother to meet Touma but she refuses and says Touma cannot be called a true Norstein. Touma enters the room that his father and grandmother are in and greets his grandmother. His grandmother says his eyes are just like his mother’s and comments to her son (Touma’s father) that is must’ve been easy to mislead “that young and ignorant exchange student.” His grandmother tells Touma to bear in mind that he is a Norstein and at the same time isn’t. Young Touma looks to his father but his father just looks away. We return to the present and Touma says his father is despicable for not defending his mother back then. Gaomon interrupts and says more Knightmon are coming. Touma’s father tells him if he is a Norstein then he should be able to do something. A doctor runs out of the back and says Relena is going into spasms (here we finally learn Touma’s dad’s name...Franz!).

Outside, Yushima evolves Kamemon to his ultimate level form, Shawujingmon. Shawujingmon begins fighting the Knightmon while inside Franz and Touma support Relena from the side. Touma has a flashback of the day Relena were born. Touma’s grandmother is shocked that a girl was born and is informed that the mother and child are in danger. She tells the doctors to do everything to save the child’s life. Touma sees her say that they finally have a real Norstein. Later on, we see young Touma going into Relena’s room to see his new sister. She is crying and grabs on to Touma and calms down. Touma pulls away and she starts crying again but when he holds her she stops. We return to the present and we see Touma holding Relena’s hand. He tells Franz that he will do something for Relena’s sake and not because he is a Norstein.

Outside Shawujingmon is being beat back by the Knightmon. Touma appears and evolves Gaomon into MirageGaogamon. MirageGaogamon helps Shawujingmon fight back the Knightmon. The Knightmon begin to fall back and Touma looks to the sky to see the royal knight know as Crusadermon. Crusadermon tells them they will pay for killing his troops. MirageGaogamon attacks Crusadermon and is sent flying to the ground by a Spiral Masquerade. Yushima notices that something is agitating Touma because his composure is off.

Inside the plane, Relena has stabilized. Franz has a flashback of his mother telling him Touma will succeed the family lineage because Relena is too sickly. Franz is to find Touma a wife of high class that will prevent people from talking about the family (I think the talking would be because Franz slept with Touma’s mother and his mother didn’t have high social status or was just considered trash by rich snobs). We return to the present and the doctors inform Franz that preparations for the jet are complete and they should head for it while Touma is distracting the Digimon.

Outside, Crusadermon has reduced Shawujingmon back into Kamemon and is kicking MirageGaogamon’s butt. Franz and the doctors leave the airplane with Relena. Relena notices her brother and jumps off the stretcher to see him. A Knightmon attacks Relena and her father is unable to make it to her. However, Touma and MirageGaogamon are able to block the attack. Franz falls before Touma and says even he acted out of desperation. He begins to cry and says he always did everything to protect the family name. Touma tells his father to take care of Relena and says he will protect him and Relena. Touma tells Crusadermon that with his name on the line he will defeat him. Crusadermon attacks and to his surprise is stopped by MirageGaogamon. Touma gains his digisoul and evolves MirageGaogamon into his burst mode form. Crusadermon mocks the burst mode as a silly trick and sends his minions at him. The Knightmon are destroyed by MirageGaogamon one after another so Crusadermon attacks. MirageGaogamon easily stops all of his attacks. MirageGaogamon tells Crusadermon to leave the human world. Crusadermon says speaking to him like that is unforgivable and charges MirageGaogamon with an Argent Fear attack. MirageGaogamon charges Crusadermon with a Full Moon Meter Impact attack and reduces Crusadermon to a digitama.

Inside the airport, Touma and Franz are sitting by Relena’s side while Yushima, Kamemon, and Gaomon are waiting out. Touma tells his father he is leaving and to Touma’s surprise Franz asks if Touma will come home safely. Touma says he will be fine because he is a Norstein. Touma leaves the room and thanks Yushima for fighting while he was dealing with his family. Touma leaves with Gaomon to catch up with Masaru who is in the digital world.
