[Digimon Data Squad-Episode 44 "Smash! Craniummon's Strongest Shield"]

Gotsumon has lead Masaru and Agumon back to the world tree so that they can fight Yggdrasil. They come in sight of the tree and are attacked by Craniummon. Masaru tells Craniummon to get out of his way so he can fight his father and Craniummon says that won’t happen because they will be annihilated. Craniummon tells Agumon and Gotsumon to leave Masaru and they will be spared. Gotsumon and Agumon tell him they don’t believe in Yggdrasil’s decision. Craniummon tells them that Yggdrasil’s decision is absolute and if they dare oppose a god. Masaru asks him if he really believes that and tells him about the humans suffering. Craniummon tells him the humans caused their own suffering because the human’s egotistical behavior rubbed against god’s imperial wrath. Masaru tells him he’ll never accept the fact that just because he is a god he can do what he wants. Craniummon looks at Masaru and Masaru asks him if he has any personal feelings about this. Craniummon says Yggdrasil’s decisions are absolute and Masaru calls him a puppet. Masaru and Agumon charge Craniummon. Craniummon laughs at how an inferior human dares challenge a royal knight. Masaru tells him he will be in for a shock if he looks down on humans and Craniummon tells him to show him the human potential he speaks of. Agumon distracts Craniummon with a baby flame so that Masaru can get his digisoul. Masaru evolves Agumon into ShineGreymon. Craniummon summons his shield called Avalon. Craniummon tells Masaru how Yggdrasil gave him this shield and that nothing can penetrate it. He also tells them to use their human potential to evade his strongest spear and strongest shield. Gotsumon looks on and wonders what made them think they could challenge a royal knight. Masaru vows not to run away until he has punched his dad and attacks Craniummon with ShineGreymon.

Touma, Ikuto, and Yoshino have appeared in the digital world and are caught by the mega forms of their Digimon. They have fallen farther away than their expected landing point. They speed away to catch up to Masaru.

ShineGreymon and Craniummon continue to battle. ShineGreymon uses a Shining Blast but it has no effect. Masaru punches him to distract him while ShineGreymon attacks but Craniummon is still unharmed.

In the human world, the royal knight Magnamon examines the progress of their invasion and is pleased. The Royal Knight Dynasmon appears and informs him that Masaru and ShineGreymon are fighting Craniummon and if they should do anything. Magnamon tells him they shouldn’t worry because Craniummon possesses the strongest spear and shield. Dynasmon agrees and the two split up to continue their invasion.

We briefly see Yggdrasil sitting alone in the world tree.

Craniummon decides to finally attack and knocks ShineGreymon to the ground. Gotsumon believes fighting a royal knight is impossible and Masaru tells him to shut up. Masaru activates the GeoGrey Sword for ShineGreymon. ShineGreymon attacks once more with his sword but is unable to penetrate Avalon. Craniummon tells ShineGreymon that it is no use and he doesn’t feel any potential coming from him and Masaru. Craniummon decides to end and attacks ShineGreymon once more. ShineGreymon dodges his attack and puts all his energy into a final attack. When the GeoGrey Sword meets Avalon is breaks and Craniummon knocks ShineGreymon down once more with his spear, Claiomh Solais.

Meanwhile Touma and co. continue flying as fast as possible to catch up with Masaru and Agumon.

ShineGreymon and Masaru lay side by side after Craniummon’s last attack. Gotsumon worries what will happen to him because he got involved with Masaru and Agumon. ShineGreymon asks Masaru what they should do and Masaru says keep attacking until they win. Masaru tells his partner as long as their hearts don’t give up they haven’t lost. Craniummon notices their mutual trust in one another and how Masaru can still stay positive in a hopeless situation. Masaru tells ShineGreymon that Avalon will be destroyed first and gains his digisoul. ShineGreymon evolves into his burst mode. ShineGreymon attacks Craniummon’s shield once more but is knocked back by his spear. Masaru attacks but is also knocked away. ShineGreymon and Craniummon fight once more but ShineGreymon is beaten to the ground. Masaru and ShineGreymon pick themselves back up. Craniummon attacks once more to knock them back down. He tells them he will put everything into his next attack to finish them off and powers up an End Waltz. The attack flies at Masaru and ShineGreymon but is knocked away by MirageGaogamon’s Full Moon Blaster. Touma and co. have appeared and picked Masaru and ShineGreymon up. Craniummon tells them they have no chance of winning against him. The kids explain no matter how hopeless the situation may be all of them always break through it together. Craniummon calls it nonsense and Touma, Yoshino, and Ikuto activate their Digimon’s burst modes. Masaru is shocked to see that his friends all got burst modes. Masaru tells them to aim for Craniummon’s shield and the others believe Masaru has been thinking and that destroying Craniummon’s shield will lower his defense and allow them to attack. Masaru says that he just wants to destroy the shield because Craniummon keeps bragging about how strong it is. ShineGreymon, MirageGaogamon, Rosemon, and Ravemon attack the shield. Craniummon tells them it is useless and that his shield will never fracture. His shield then cracks. Gotsumon watches on and realizes that by never giving up and keeping up their attacks they made the impossible possible. Everyone attacks once more and Craniummon begins to feel the pressure. Craniummon is knocked to the ground by MirageGaogamon and blocks one of ShineGreymon’s attacks which cause further cracks. Masaru flies towards him and says it is time to show him a human’s true potential. He punches Avalon and it breaks to pieces. Craniummon sits on the ground with pieces of his shield in his hand. He puts down his spear and says the fight ends here. Masaru questions him and Craniummon says they managed to evade his strongest spear and shield so he lost. He tells them they may pass and that they showed him their human potential. Masaru says they’ll be going but Touma believes it to be a trap. Masaru says Craniummon wouldn’t do that and that he can tell because they talked with their fist. Craniummon watches the group run towards the world tree. He says to himself that god is not absolute and that he will stake the two worlds on Masaru’s infinite potential. Craniummon wonders if BanchouLeomon was aware of that.

In the human world, we see BanchouLeomon’s digisoul foundation for both worlds crack.
