The Anatoray
The Anatoray are a faction at war with the Disith. They live in one of the two spheres of Prester and inhabit the dryer portion of the world. They are led by an Emperor/Empress and believe strongly in a code of chivalry. Their society strongly resembles that of the victorian era from our past.

Anatoray in Last Exile
In the series, the Anatoray are still waging a war with the Disith and are losing. This war began when the Disith discovered how to cross the Grand Stream and began invading Anatoray (for the land since Disith is just a frozen wasteland) At the beginning of the series the Battle of Minagith is being fought and the Anatoray lose when the Disith break the guild’s rules (guild doesn’t do anything).

Eventually, the Disith fleet sacks the Anatoray capital but is forced out when Duke Mad-Thane’s fleet shows up.

The Emperor’s Death
When the Emperor orders Mad-Thane to finish off the Disith (the war has now turned in their favors…or has it?) Marius protests (he wants them to spare the Disith and have peace) and gets himself put under house arrest. Marius calls for Sophia (The Emperors daughter) to return and she is put under house arrest for fighting four of Anatoray’s battleships and for pushing Marius’s position.

To the Emperor’s surprise, Anatoray’s capital gets sacked by Disith forces. During this battle, Marius attacks the Emperor and the two kill themselves. Sophia is rescued by Vincent (captain of the Urbanus) and she assumes power as Empress. She asks for a cease fire, and the arrival of the

Mad-Thane fleet helps her cause because the Disith would’ve been annihilated with his forces there, and the battle ends.

Sophia as Empress
Sophia ends the war between Disith and Anatoray and forms an alliance with the goal of overthrowing the Guild. They put into action a play to capture their ships claudia units, exile, and live together in peace. In the end they are successful.
