[last exile-episode 17 "making material"]

The Anatoray capital continues to burn after an onslaught brought on by the remaining Disith forces.

A few miles outside of the capital, the lead Anatoray commander learns of the Emperor’s passing and continues prepping the long range cannon to fire on the Disith fleet. In the distance, he can see the Urbanus returning to the battlefield and questions why it has come back. (It retreated while temporarily under the command of the wimp)

Vincent, now in command of the Urbanus once more, prepares the Urbanus to fire upon the cannon. He orders the Anatoray commander to stand down, under Sophia’s authority. The Anatoray commander ignores Vincent and orders the cannon to open fire. Seeing the cannon is still going to fire, Vincent launches two torpedoes, destroying the cannon and killing the commander. Vincent receives word that the Mad-Thane fleet is closing in behind the Disith Fleet. The Empress has now asked for a cease fire order with the Disith so that the two can possible become allies in the future.

The Disith commander receives the cease fire orders and ponders whether he should trust the Anatoray and leave or continue fighting. He decides to put his trust in them and decides to end his assault.

Repairs continue aboard the Silvana with Mullin complaining about working for three days straight.

A pigeon arrives with a message for Alex.

Alvis wakes up in Claus/Lavie’s vanship. She notices Lavie is in a solemn mode and asks what is wrong. Lavie tells Alvis how she doesn’t really like Claus at the moment because of how he has changed.

Outside on the deck Claus is sitting as Tatiana approaches him, asking him if he plans on leaving the Silvana. He says he’s going to stay and tells Tatiana leave him alone because she has been nosey. A courier lands breaking up their fight, and the two take them to Alex. Alex sets the course for horizon caves to resupply and make repairs.

Claus runs out to catch the couriers and asks them if they were worried about having to make a delivery to the Silvana. They say they were a little worried but they go where ever their mission takes them. The couriers then leave telling Claus he should try flying sometime.

Vincent and Sophia make a visit to Mad-Thanes ship to discuss future policy. Mad-Thane says he believes the Disith commander is a man they can reason with and possible form an alliance with against the Disith.

Aboard the Silvana, Alex and the engineer are playing chess. The engineer tells Alex that Prime Minister Marius told him to entrust his mysteria to Alex before he died. Alex then realizes that the engineer is from the Dagobear house. (There were four houses in the guild. Hamilton, Dio’s house, Dagobear, and one other)

“The waves that flow and dye the land gold.”

The engineer then says he knows the Prime Minister has also sent Alex the final one. Alex now has all four. Dio gave his houses, the Prime minister gave him one, the engineer gave him one, and at the auction the cloaked man gave Alvis’s for 50 billion Claudia.

The Silvana docks at Horizon caves and Mullin notices Anatoray musketeers practicing.

In a small room Alvis catches Dio chipping away at a date on the calendar. When he shows his face, he is clearly stressed.

Elsewhere, Maestro Delphine learns Anatoray and Disith are showing up and preparing to fight the guild. Her advisers recommend recalling their Claudia units but Delphine wants to have some fun with them.

In the hangar Claus continues arguing with Tatiana about his choice to stay on the Silvana. The mechanics and Alvis interrupt their fight and invite Claus to join them in the mess hall. The mechanics now know Claus and Sophia did something on the balcony.

Alex disembarks from the ship to meet his friend Walker. We learn that Anatoray is going to pay for the repairs and Walker shows Alex a new weapon for the Silvana. (Looks like a giant cannon)

In a Horizon cave hanger, Claus and Alvis are looking at various vanships. Claus notices a vanship with the figurehead that Ralph Wednesday had. A man that looks like Ralph then appears and notices Claus holding Ralph’s figurehead. The man appears to be Ralph’s older brother. Claus tells the man how Ralph died. Claus tries to give him his brother’s figurehead but the man says to keep it. Ralph’s brother begins to tell Claus about a special forces unit consisting of vanships that are practicing on the guild warship that Prime Minister Marius used to escape the guild. Claus takes a closer look at some vanships flying by and sees that they are Hurricane Hawk, Fat Chicken, and Sunny Boy.

The three land and Claus runs over to greet them. They ask where Lavie is and Alvis runs off to get her. Sunny Boy shows off his medal that he won. While eating, the three vanships reveal Duke Mad-Thane is behind organizing the vanship special forces. They say he got the idea from two couriers during the Minagith battle (Claus and Lavie). They ask if it could’ve been them, and Claus and Lavie reluctantly say it was. They talk about how they hate vanships being used as fighters. The episode ends with Claus crying and coming to the realization that he can’t abandon his vanship even if it was Alex’s.
