Exile arrives at the location where the beam was being emitted with Guild and Alliance forces behind.
The fire fight between the alliance and the Guild continues while more tentacles come out of exile to attacks both fleets.
Back in the grand stream Dio flies alongside Claus but is now firing upon him.
The Silvana joins the fleet and begins to open fire. Vanships are deployed by Mad-Thane to take out the tentacles.
Dio runs out of ammo and pulls up above Claus saying, “Nice reflexes.” Claus pulls away. Dio then has a flashback of when he is racing in the Horizon Cave 8 and begins to act out his memories.
Claus and Lavie spot rain birds and Lavie tells Claus to follow them because they know the way.
Dio sees the rain birds but thinks they are the finish line. He flies past them and thinks he won the Horizon Cave 8. (Remember when Dio told Lucciola to jump out during the race?) Dio turns to the navigator spot to tell Lucciola they won and he sees Lucciola isn’t there. Dio begins to cry and mumbles, “because I said to jump out?!” The wind then knocks Dio’s vanship back and Dio goes flying.
The remaining alliance forces form up on the Silvana and fly along Exile’s surface. Vincent’s ship is hit with a tentacle and it is dragged down.
To avoid crashing into the Urbanus, the Silvana opens fire and manages to get by. Vincent watches on from his destroyed ship and tells Sophia to give them hell.
Delphine decorates Alex with roses and tells him, “Now, you’re much more attractive.” Alex’s hand suddenly snaps out and he begins to choke her.
The Silvana is attacked by tentacles and it begins to pull them as it approaches Delphine’s ship.
Alex begins to speak…
“You just stood there and smiled. Ten years ago, you stood there watching us die; and smiled.” Alex chokes the life out of Delphine and her lifeless corpse falls to the ground. Alex whispers, “Yuris.” And Wina hears this (Wina is the echolocation person aboard the Silvana). Sophia orders the Silvana to open fire, and at that exact moment Wina yells that she heard Alex’s voice.
Delphine’s ship begins to implode, and Alex’s last words are, “To the sky.”
The explosion sends a light into the grand stream, giving Claus and Lavie a heading. Claus activates the boosters and pulls out of the grand stream and into Disith.
The Silvana continues to be dragged down by Exile and has sustained heavy surface damage from Delphine’s ship. Sophia cries momentarily and then orders everyone to abandon ship.
Claus and company arrive at the scene and Alvis tells Claus to take them to Exile. Sophia asks Wina what Alex’s last words were and she lies, saying it was, “Sophia.” (He said Yuris)
As Claus, Lavie, and Alvis appear above Exile numerous tentacles appear but stop once they recognize Alvis. Claus begins saying the mysterian and Exile allows them to land on the surface.
House Eraclea: “What lies in the furthest reaches of the sky?”
“That which guides a lost child back to her mother. Exile”
House Dagobear: “The waves that flow and die the land gold”
“The blessed breath; the nurturing breath of light; A land of wheat.”
House Bassianus: “The path the angels descend upon.”
“The path of great winds; the grand stream.”
After this mysterian, the blizzard goes away and the skies clear completely.
Claus then says the final mysteria,
House Hamilton: “What lies in the furthest reaches of one’s memory?”
“The place where all are born and all will finally return; A star of blue.”
Exile’s cocoon begins to fall off, freeing the Silvana. In the engine room, the engineer activates the engines saying, “Ascending.” We hear an echo of Dio saying the same thing.
Exile’s true form is revealed. The battle ends…
We see a scene of Sophia visiting Alex’s grave and she drops off a set of goggles. The Silvana flies by in the background.
The mechanics are shown looking at the picture Alvis drew of her dream and they say they’ll mission everyone.
Claus begins to tell us that they came across their dad’s vanship while inside Exile, and their 10 star mission.
We see Lavie and Claus climb into their dad’s vanship and Lavie begins to cry when she sees her father’s skeleton.
We then see Exile leaving the world of Prester with Claus, Lavie, Alvis, Tatiana, Dunya, Alister, and some other people.
They arrive in a new world and Claus hands the letter his dad was meant to deliver to Dunya.
We see Claus, Lavie, Dunya, Tatiana, Alvis, Alister, all living together in a small house. We then see Mullin playing with his kids in a field of grain. (He had babies with Dunya) The bird from the races is even there.
Notes: Ending was kind of confusing and left a few questions that I will try to answer or at least present some information for you to decide on.
-Dio’s Death: This is debated quite a bit. Some people think when his ship was knocked over and he went flying that he died. However, there is some art in the final DVD that shows a picture of everyone looking surprised to see someone. You then see a hand waving and the person is dressed in a guild uniform.
Another piece of evidence that could suggest Dio is alive is the way Mullin was suggested as dead. We see Dunya going into the Claudia unit and seeing Mullin hunched over like he is dead. We then see Dunya running out and crying. However, at the end of the last episode Mullin is alive and has kids with Dunya. Because of this, it is very much possible Dio is actually alive.
The picture I described above can be found here or below

-The world of Prester: Prester is contained in an hour-glass like cage in space. Anatoray is one of the bulbs and Disith is the other. I assume the grand stream connects the two worlds. Also, when the skies clear you can see Norkia above Disith and Disith above Norkia. I think this is suppose to mean that you must travel up to reach either Disith or Anatoray. -What did Alex say when he died? Alex said the name of the women he loved, Yuris. However, Wina tells Sophia that he said “Sophia.” A few things I draw from this…
A. Wina knows Sophia loved Alex and that Sophia would be hurt if she knew Alex was still hung up on Yuris so she lies.
B. Sophia looked exactly like Yuris. Maybe they’re the same person? <I doubt this one but who knows. |
