Zabuza has just appeared before Sakura and the bridge builder. He attacks them with his sword and we hear Sakura scream.

Inside the Crystal Ice Mirror jutsu, Sasuke and Naruto hear Sakura scream. Naruto picks himself up and tries to fake out Haku while making a break for it. Haku attacks him with more needles and he falls to the ground. Sasuke tells him not to use any more chakra. Naruto tells him he knows and tries to pick himself back up but he falls down. Sasuke realizes his eyes have adjusted to Haku’s movements. Haku attacks with more needles but Sasuke is able to block them. Sasuke tells Naruto to get up. Naruto manages to pick himself up. Haku attacks once more with needles. Sasuke blocks them to help protect Naruto who is close to passing out. Sasuke asks Naruto to get moving because he can’t keep protecting him. Naruto tells him to stop then and then passes out. Haku wonders how Sasuke is able to watch his movements and then attacks once more. Sasuke watches Haku to see his every move and then picks up Naruto to save him from Haku’s needles. Sasuke looks at Haku and Haku sees that Sasuke has the sharingan and realizes that is how Sasuke is able to track his movements. Haku decides that if he is going to win he will have to throw off Sasuke by attacking Naruto. Haku rushes at Naruto and Sasuke tries to intercept.

Outside Kakashi has managed to take Zabuza’s blow, saving Sakura and the bridge builder. Zabuza mocks Kakashi and then disappears into the mist. Sakura says she has faith in Naruto and Sasuke’s ability to defeat Haku. Kakashi says that he also has faith in them. Zabuza tells them they won’t be able to defeat Haku. Kakashi tells Sakura to stay with the bridge builder and then runs into the mist to find Zabuza.

Inside the Crystal Ice Mirror jutsu, Naruto wakes up to see Sasuke standing in front of him. He realizes Sasuke saved him from Haku’s attack and is dying. Sasuke thinks about some old times with Naruto and says he use to hate Naruto. Naruto tells him he didn’t ask for Sasuke to save him and asks why he saved him. Sasuke says his body just reacted and then falls backwards. Naruto catches him and Sasuke tells Naruto that he promised to stay alive until he avenged his clan by killing his brother. He then tells Naruto not to let his dream of being hokage die and then dies. Haku realizes Sasuke found a new strength because of his desire to protect Naruto. He calls Sasuke a true ninja worthy of honor and then disappears into his mirrors telling Naruto this is what it means to be a ninja. A circle of steam appears around Naruto. Naruto tells Sasuke he hated him too and then tells Haku he will pay for this. The circle of steam turns into a spiral of red chakra and Naruto’s eyes turn red. The Nine-tailed fox appears in the chakra. Naruto’s wounds heal and he begins getting stronger.

Outside, Kakashi and Zabuza sense the new chakra. Kakashi realizes that the seal containing the Nine-tailed fox inside of Naruto has broken and that he must stop it.
