The Naruto imposter has attacked Sasuke. The two begin fighting and Sasuke notices Naruto tied up. He throws a throwing star at his ropes to free him. Sasuke uses his Phoenix Flower jutsu against the imposter. The imposter throws some kunais with paper bombs attached with sends Sasuke toward the ground. The imposter comes up behind Sasuke but Sakura distracts him. Naruto throws a kunai at the imposter and the imposter moves away from Sasuke to dodge it. Sasuke sends a kunai at the imposter by channeling chakra through his foot. Sasuke manages to grab hold of the imposter in the air and stabs him. Sasuke tells Sakura to watch for his teammates. The imposter escapes telling them he came alone.
Later on, Sasuke tells his teammates they must have some means of knowing that each of them is not an imposter if they get separated. Sasuke says they’ll have password in the form of a question and each much answer with the correct answer. Sasuke comes up with the question, “When does a ninja strike?” The answer he says is, “A ninja waits until the time is right. When the enemy sleeps and drops his guard; when his weapons lie forgotten in the night. That is the moment for a ninja to strike.” Sakura says she can remember it but Naruto asks for a shorter one. Sakura criticizes him so Naruto says he can remember it. Nearby, someone listens in. Sasuke tells Naruto to give him a scroll. Naruto tells him to wait but then is interrupted by a burst of wind. The grass ninja and his teammates appear. The leader tells his comrades to disperse and that he’ll handle this alone. Sasuke hides in the bushes and notices Sakura come up behind him. Sasuke tells Sakura to answer the question and she is able to do so. Naruto appears and Sakura asks him the password. Naruto is able to answer it perfectly which is a relief to Sakura. Sasuke attacks him and says he was quicker than the last one. Sakura asks Sasuke what he is doing because he got the password right. Sasuke says Naruto would never get the password right and that this Naruto moves faster than the one they know. The imposter turns out to be the grass ninja leader. The grass ninja asks Sasuke why they would give Naruto a password like that if he was that stupid. Sasuke says it was for anyone listening. Sakura thinks the grass ninja is creepy and wonders where Naruto is.

Naruto picks himself up after being knocked into a tree by the grass ninja’s burst of wind attack. A giant snake appears and attacks Naruto. Naruto lands on his feet but is wrapped around by the snake’s body and then swallowed.

The grass ninja pulls of her earth scroll and then swallows it whole saying she knows they would love to get their hands on it because they have the heaven scroll. She goes on to say by the time this is over one will have both scrolls and the other will be dead. Sasuke and Sakura look into the grass ninja’s eyes and see themselves dying. Sasuke wonders if what he just saw was an illusion and then throws up. Sasuke falls to the ground. He looks over to see Sakura shaking and crying.

Naruto is trying to stab the inside of the giant snake with his kunai but it is having no effect. Naruto pulls out a rice ball hoping the snake will take it and let him go, however, the rice ball digests within seconds. The snake moves him farther down his body.

The grass ninja notices Sasuke and Sakura are paralyzed with fear. Sasuke slowly moves his hand to his kunai and then picks himself up. Sasuke freezes up even more and the grass ninja tells him she will make it quick. The grass ninja throws two kunai at Sasuke and we see blood fly into the air.

Naruto wonders if this is how he will die. He thinks of Iruka, the hokage, Konohamaru, Kakashi, Sakura, and then Sasuke. Naruto wonders what Sasuke’s problem was and then thinks about how they were good together because they would push each other. Naruto realizes he never had a final showdown with Sasuke to prove who was better so he decides he must escape the snake’s belly.

Sasuke has managed to escape the grass ninja with Sakura. He has stabbed himself in the leg with a kunai to force his body to move so he could evade the two kunais.

The grass ninja realizes what has happened and thinks Sasuke may not be as helpless as she initially thought.

Naruto uses the shadow clone jutsu to make the snake explode.

Sasuke pulls his kunai out of his leg and prevents Sakura from speaking. Sasuke thinks to himself that he must escape with Sakura. A giant snake appears behind both of them and they jump away from it. The snake attacks Sasuke. Sasuke sees the grass ninja in the eyes of the snake so he throws some throwing stars at it and kills it. The snake lands on a tree and out of the body emerges the grass ninja. The grass ninja slithers towards Sasuke but Naruto stops her in her tracks with a kunai. Naruto asks Sakura and Sasuke what the password was.
