Sakura tells Naruto he doesn’t need to know the password because she knows it’s him. Sasuke tells Naruto to get out of here. The grass ninja congratulates Naruto on getting away from her giant snake. Naruto tells the grass ninja,

“Ok, ok, I don’t know what’s going on here, but you’ve been picking on my friends and I don’t like that. So you better just slither back into your hole, snake lady, before I make a pair of shoes out of yah.”-Naruto
Sasuke thinks that Naruto is just going to get all three of them killed. Sasuke decides the only way to get rid of snake lady is to give her their heaven scroll. Naruto yells at him but the grass ninja is happy. Sasuke throws the scroll to the grass ninja but Naruto intercepts it and lands behind Sasuke. Sasuke tells him to stop playing the hero and leave it to him so Naruto punches him. Naruto says he may not know the password but he knows who he is. Naruto then wonders if Sasuke is really Sasuke because the Sasuke he knows would never surrender and be a coward. He then says Sasuke has choked. The grass ninja says Sasuke has choked but it doesn’t matter about the scroll because she’ll just kill Naruto. The grass ninja performs a summoning jutsu and summons a snake that attacks Naruto.

At some statues of Buddha, sentinels discover three corpses that resemble those of the grass ninja leader and her comrades. One of the sentinels sends someone to get Anko.

Anko is sitting outside the Forest of Death enjoying some lunch. She says soon she’ll have to greet those finishing soon. A sentinel appears and informs Anko that three corpses have been discovered. Anko says she is trying to eat but the sentinel says there is something strange about them.

At the Buddha statues Anko is briefed on the situation. All three ninjas are from the grass village and have had their faces melted. Anko thinks to herself that this is “his” jutsu as some kind of jutsu was performed on them as they died. Anko requests pictures and sees the leader was the one who returned her kunai to her earlier. She wonders if “he” had already been in the grass ninja leader’s body back then. Anko tells the sentinels to inform the hokage and ANBU. Anko decides to head into the Forest of Death to find “him”.

The grass ninja is riding her summoned snake and is attacking Naruto. Naruto gets knocked into a tree and the grass ninja orders her snake to finish him off. As Naruto falls to the ground his eyes turn red and he kicks the snake. Naruto begins beating the shit out of the snake. Sakura thinks Naruto has gone nuts and wonders where he got this huge burst of power. The grass ninja shoots a flame out of her mouth at Naruto. Naruto hits a branch. The grass ninja knows what is going on with Naruto but doesn’t tell us quite yet. She refocuses her attention on Sasuke and attacks with her snake.

Anko is now in the forest and is rushing to find “him”.

Naruto has stopped the snake dead in its tracks, just feet away from Sasuke. Naruto asks Sasuke if he is hurt and then calls him a scaredy cat (quoting what Sasuke said to him earlier in the series). Naruto then says he isn’t the Sasuke he knows because he is just standing there frightened. The grass ninja wraps Naruto with her tongue and pulls him closer to her. The grass ninja has realized that Naruto is the boy with the nine tails inside of him and that when his anger is aroused the fox’s chakra leaks through. The grass ninja lifts up his shirt and notices the seal. She performs a seal of her own on Naruto’s seal and his eyes go back to normal. (The seal disrupts Naruto’s ability to effectively control his chakra and causes him to be wasteful with his chakra.) The grass ninja thinks to herself that Naruto’s and the fox’s chakra is close to becoming one. She takes the scroll from Naruto who is now passed out and throws him. Sakura throws a kunai at Naruto so he doesn’t fall to the ground and die (the kunai went through his clothing and hit a tree, keeping him from falling). Sakura notices Sasuke is just shaking and then calls him a coward for not doing anything. Sasuke thinks of his brother telling him his hate isn’t strong enough. Sasuke gains his sharingan. The grass ninja decides to play with Sasuke to learn the full extent of his powers. She causes her snake to explode and the two stare at each other.
