The Silvana uses a propellant fluid system (rather than steam) that was developed in secrecy to power its weaponry. This allows the Silvana to have over five times the range and three times the penetrating power of similar ships. The penetrating power is as follows…

    • Main Forward Guns (12”) Penetrating Power (standard armor piercing shell. Shell weight 870lbs/394.6kg)
    • Side Guns (10”) Penetrating Power (standard armor piercing shell, shell weight 500lbs/227kg)
    • Rapid-firing guns (8”) Penetrating Power (standard armor piercing shell, shell weight 260lbs/118kg)

The Silvana utilizes a dual launch deck system where it has a top launch deck and a bottom launch deck with a lift running from each other to the hangar. Five ships can take off at a time.

The armor on the Silvana is a new generation type that gives it the rating of a Claimh Solais-class at half the thickness. Existing cannons have trouble penetrating it.

The ship’s claudia unit has been integrated into the ship, therefore making it impossible to detach. Also, the ship is smaller than what the unit usually powers allowing the Silvana to have heavy defenses and stay quite fast.  The rudder is an unbalanced rudder that runs throughout the ship, making it part of the Silvana’s frame.

The Silvana has two bridges, a fore and a aft bridge. The Fore is the main bridge used but the aft can be used in times of emergency. The layout is as follows: Upper listening post, the upper lookout command center, lower listening post, battle bridge, navigation bridge (operations room, lower lookout post), night warfare bridge, (officer’s lounge, captain’s and executive officer’s ready rooms, signal cabin, chart room) and conning tower.)

Throughout the series, the Silvana is shown as a free ship captained by Alex Rowe. Alex makes the mission of the ship to capture Exile, to free the skies, and to get his revenge on Maestro Delphine. We first see the Silvana when it aids the Mad-Thane fleet in its escape by opening fire on the Disith. Later on we see it once more when Claus and Lavie go to check on Alvis. The crew of the Silvana is at first very cocky (they’re the best and they know it) and rude towards Claus and Lavie but eventually accept them as part of their team.

Some of the early battles the Silvana takes part in are against a squadron of Guild Starships and later on five Urbanus-Class battleships in the Dragon’s Fangs. Even when outnumbered, the Silvana manages to take out four of the Anatoray’s best battleships, however, it suffered great damage and required significant repairs.

When the Silvana is docked at Walker’s casino, we learn just how feared the Silvana is. Alex is challenged to a duel by the captain of the Goliath. The captain of the Goliath later regrets his challenge and freaks out when he learns just who he challenged. Because of this, the Goliath opens fire on the Silvana before the duel is suppose to begin but the Silvana takes no damage..this is where we see why the Silvana is called the “Kill ‘Em All Silvana” and why it is so feared. The Silvana simply turns around and swiftly sinks the Goliath (And mind you, the Goliath is a heavily fortified ship, the Silvana makes it look easy) In the final episode, Exile is trying to drag down the Silvana with its tentacles but has great difficulty. The Silvana manages to drag the tentacles and destroys the Maestro’s ship (no idea what I’m talking about? Read episode 26 guide)

Among being invincible and heavily armed, the crew maintains supply depots throughout Prester. Also, the ship can allow its vanships to hook on so they don’t get lost while in the grand stream.
